Wi-Fi
HotSpot Lands in the Bath Spa Hotel
Lydbrook, Gloucestershire,
5 December 2003 - SoVision
and KooKu have provided the award winning Bath Spa Hotel,
part of the Macdonald Group of Hotels, with a Wi-Fi
KooKu hotspot service. The installation at the
Bath Spa Hotel is based on the 802.11b wireless networking
standard protocol and encompasses access points in the
reception area, library and the outside terrace area.
This KooKu service
allows guests to access the internet, email and online
services at broadband speeds, with a wire less connection.
KooKu is based on a prepaid system of payment
which allows complete flexibility of service provision
and removes the requirement for credit checks, credit
card support, etc. Unlike other Wi-Fi networks who offer
online sign up, which can take up to 20 minutes to complete,
KooKu offers customers a fast and easy to access
Internet service. The Bath Spa Hotel will provide their
guest with MicroAPs, a driver free installation device
replacing a wireless card, allowing guests without Wi-Fi
enabled laptops to access the service - a cost effective,
easy to use solution.
Andy Bunt , General Manager
at the Bath Spa Hotel, explained, "This is a great
opportunity to enhance our already excellent facilities
which will provide our guests with instant plug and
play wireless internet access using the KooKu
network, allowing them to work away from the office
whilst enjoying the comforts of the hotel. The bespoke
nature of the service allows us to provide a tailored
range of packages to our guests whilst the flexible
branding presents us with multiple marketing opportunities"
KooKu Sales Director,
Jeff Martin said, "We are delighted to be involved
in enabling the Bath Spa Hotel with this cutting edge
technology and the KooKu network."
Venues using the KooKu
network will be presented with a sales pack containing
the KooKu cards customised with their logo, point
of sale material, user guides, staff training and after
sales support.
