Harrogate Welcomes the Wireless World

Lydbrook, Gloucestershire, 28 June 2004 - More and more clients and delegates are demanding to keep in touch whilst away from the home or office, and having internet access is a must. Now Harrogate International Centre in partnership with Kooku is offering high-speed and cost-effective wireless internet access to customers throughout their facility. The system offers organisers and delegates speed, simplicity, flexibility and cost effectiveness.

Engineers have installed a LES10 superhighway into the heart of the HIC complex. The system is fast and flexible and allows high speed, (100 times faster than dial-up) portable connection to the internet using the wireless LAN card fitted to the delegates own laptop or PDA.

Being a wireless system means no fuss, no plugs and, of course, no wires! The system uses the same principle as a pay-as-you-go-phone card. Cards are available at reception, box office or via the organiser. And for delegates without a wireless enabled laptop HIC can offer a plug-in device to adapt their own computer.

The system features No Compromise Security and incorporates Virtual Private Networking (VPNs).

No laptop - no problem! Simply visit the Centre's bespoke Cyber café installation. An attractive, fully fitted Cyber café with up to 12 terminals serving slimline PCs, can be installed adjacent to the main auditorium.

Paul Lewis, Director of HIC said "The advantage of this system frees the organisers from excessive financial outlay. The delegates themselves can pay for just the amount of time they need. Alternatively, (when using the Cyber Café), the organisers can buy event cards - and effectively sign-on behalf of their delegates, offering a services that's free to the end user.
